The Mean Corner - Who Is Sean Cody? (2004)
Переглядів 219Рік тому
The Mean Corner were an early incarnation of The Ballet. Greg and Craig met after sitting next to each other during the first week of class in graduate school. Craig went over to Greg's house in the Bronx to study, and instead they formed The Mean Corner with Emily, another graduate student who played the drums. Greg and Craig went on to form The Ballet. Jens Lekman - Maple Leaves (7" Version)
Is this streamable anywhere? I’ve wanted a place to stream it for years
Me too!
I love this song so very much. Thank you!
I like how Jens dismisses this as a ‘lazy Avalanches ripoff.’ This is one of my favorite songs ever; I love Avalanches but this song reaches a level of beautiful melancholy that transcends not only music, but space and time as well. Pure masterwork. This song could be sent into space to show any potential life out there the heights of perfection that human art has achieved.
I love when Jens uses plunderphonics, I wish he still used samples in his new stuff
Incredible song. Would love to experience it live. Thank you for this
Ive lived this song
Litro have thought she said maple leaves
so when she talked about the fall she was talking about her menstruation
This is the only song that makes my 9 month old sleep. Why?
My bet: Half of the people commenting on the brilliance of the Mark E Smith line had to Google the name before they understood it.
The best use of sampling this side of Paul's Boutique
An old friend back in high school made me a mix CD with this song on it. I’ve been looking for this song since 2016. I hate the re-recorded version the original is perfect
that entire album is trash, why did he even do that
@@alekseytsoi242due to the copyright on the samples
@@vitotiganioh wow. What were the samples?

Reminds me of Morrissey and Martin L. Gore...
This is some of the best sound I've ever heard from a live recording of them. This is phenomenal. I guess your camera did in fact stop recording then and the last few seconds getting cut off wasn't some sort of uploading error or something?
I listen to The Fall a lot, and every once in a while I'm reminded that I want to hear this song.
Cool cover! Could have fit on Obscurities.
Absolute fav from there, good recording m8
Such a sparkly pop tune that gets the toes tapping.
Sounds pretty good! The 69 Love Song Tour should be excellent. I always reminisce about the early TMF albums and their live playstyle was more loud, but oftertime Stephin Merritt's ear condition developed over time. But they sound to be a lot louder than the previous times I've seen them on tour in the last decade. 👍
You have Magnetic Fields sets uploaded, a 6ths name, and a cover of Right Here. I think you and I are soulmates lol
Thanks! Great 6ths username btw
That main string riff comes from The Mamas And The Papas "Do You Wanna Dance". ua-cam.com/video/H8xpuG1RLjQ/v-deo.html
I wish this was on Spotify🥲

Beyond most man this guy is timeless
Maybe may favorite song of all time.
Piece of nostalgia that still sounds great. This is the only song off the new record that I strongly prefer this older version of
Oh God I found the new version on Spitify and I was like OMG WHY IS IT SO SLOW? I still vastly prefer this version.
Wow
Just.. what an absolute gem..
i know his sound from way back---lost in the dust of time---until "Kingpin" -----a very special voice
Props MegaTour 3
Feel like I hear the Silver Apples drums @ 00:27, or is it just a doubling of the American Breed break? And Left Banke strings? Can't place the last vocal sample @ 3:36...
Someome to Share My Life With by Television Personalities around 2:50 in that song. Jens also covers that tune
@@mackereltacos2850 Good ear! Love that song!
I found this sound 2006 or something because of some indie wave... thank you soo much for those timeless lines @jenslekman.
Unmatched indie dance
Is there really a 7 inch release of this song??? Not just a CD version?
I listened to this song a decade ago and I can't find it on any steaming service :/. Where do I get it?
Unfortunately the original versions have been pulled from streaming services due to sampling rights issues. The original CDs and UA-cam are the only way to listen to those original tracks now
There's a Starbucks where the Starbucks used to be.
Fun fact: this song charted on the official Swedish singles chart, peaking at #11
the #10 song at that time was Bring Me To Life by Evanescence.

Un Momentum, Por Favor!!
Another fine tune by Jens!
I'll lose my mind completely. Madness will finally defeat me. The lyrics give me chills, in a sad & happy way because it's a story of a lad who fell for a girl who was too insecure to love him back/be comfortable in her own skin but at least he got to experience those precious moments with her anyhow. Le sigh.
I thank God for this song every day
i love the film king pin thanks woody harison and randy quad beautifl barstards
sounds like the La's and the Smiths had a baby
Best lyrics.

so fuckin beautiful ... because you can dance and cry at the same time...
nice country sounding version of this song
Personal favorite from this LP.
I like Take it even more but that's just me
So relatable. I suppose we all feel this way about something in our lives. I miss the old days.
